Our Bio-Fermented Formulation
Our improved formulation for Akesi utilises a lactic acid bacteria fermented base. This base contains various inputs to improve the bioavailability of the complex phytochemicals present in these ingredients. We inoculate this base with various beneficial bacteria to create a final product which has prebiotic, probiotic, and postbiotic components. The lactic acid ferment creates a natural preservation system for this complex bioactive liquid.
Our Bio-Manufacturing Process
Akesi is bio-manufactured through a multi-stage fermentation process, optimised to increase the yield of the beneficial microbes and their metabolites, while liberating the myriad of polyphenolic compounds contained within the ingredients. This complex probiotic culture process features various species; certain species are selectively deactivated to increase the availability of intracellular metabolites and cell fragments to supply a multitude of postbiotics for the gut microbiota. While specific end points are defined to be achieved, it is important to note that the combination of seasonal variation in substrates and the complex microbial fermentation kinetics can be subject to some small batch-to-batch variation.
Take a moment to understand
A prebiotic is a substrate that is selectively utilised by host microorganisms conferring a health benefit. In other words – prebiotic is a food source for beneficial microbes.
Prebiotics positively influence the growth of beneficial bacteria like Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria. Some examples include Inulin, Fructo-Oligosaccharide and Galacto-Oligosaccharide.
Foods high in prebiotic fibre are garlic, chicory root, artichoke, leeks, asparagus and onions.
There is no consensus for a daily prebiotic recommendation however 3-8 grams per day is a common suggested dose. Some prebiotic fibres can cause side effects such as gas, bloating and abdominal cramping if used in high doses. The best way to minimise this is to start at the lowest dose and try introducing new prebiotic foods in small amounts; halve your prebiotic supplement dose or take it on alternate days.
Our Probiotic+ Powders
Our Probiotic+ Powder range contains probiotic species in powder form. Our Probiotic+ Powders are manufactured in a GMP licensed manufacturing facility in Australia with a standard protocol and includes testing to ensure a standardised quality product.
Akesi Probiotic+ Powders are a multispecies probiotic with a total of 10 billion good bacteria, and include prebiotic fibre (the food source for probiotic species) in the form of Fructo-oligosaccharide (FOS). The 10 billion good bacteria is maintained throughout the shelf life of the product and contains important Lactobacilli and Bifidobacterium species.
In addition, Probiotic+ Elderberry Boost includes fermented elderberry with the postbiotic L. plantarum.
