Guest Blog: Gut Support Matters

Enjoy our guest blog post from Jo Brownlow, a Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach & Personal Trainer based in Singapore and a new adopter of Akesi:

If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know how passionate I am about gut health — not just because it affects digestion, but because it’s at the heart of everything. Hormones, mood, immunity, energy, sleep, skin... it all ties back to how well your gut is functioning.

And the truth is, gut health isn’t a one-time fix. It’s something we need to nurture consistently, especially in a world where stress, processed food, antibiotics, and environmental toxins are constantly knocking our microbiome out of balance.

So I recently bought a few products from Akesi Wellness after hearing great things — and I have to say, I’ve been really impressed. I’m quite selective when it comes to recommending supplements (especially online), but I’ve genuinely noticed a difference.

Since using their products, my bowel movements have been more regular and easier, and my digestion just feels smoother overall. (And if you’ve ever had a sluggish gut, you’ll know just how game-changing that can be.)

So what makes Akesi different?

Akesi’s range focuses on targeted, ongoing support for the gut using things like probiotics, polyphenols, and fermented botanicals — ingredients that help to rebalance the microbiome, reduce inflammation, and feed the good bugs that keep everything running smoothly.

These aren’t your average probiotic capsules either. Their formulations are liquid-based and thoughtfully created to support the body at every stage — from babies to adults. As a practitioner, I really appreciate when a company takes both science and practicality seriously.

Why ongoing gut support matters

Often we think of gut health as something to focus on only when things go wrong — bloating, reflux, constipation, etc. But the gut is an active, living ecosystem, and like any ecosystem, it thrives when it's consistently nourished.

Here’s why that matters:

  • Stress alone can alter the gut microbiome and reduce your ability to digest properly.

  • Processed foods, alcohol, and sugar feed the wrong microbes and can trigger inflammation.

  • Antibiotics and medications can wipe out beneficial bacteria (sometimes for months).

  • And even if your digestion seems okay, things like fatigue, brain fog, and poor immunity often trace back to subtle imbalances in the gut.

That’s why I talk so much about daily gut rituals, not just short-term cleanses. Whether it’s through diet, lifestyle, or supportive products like Akesi, we want to be nurturing that inner garden regularly, not just reacting when things fall apart.

Who might benefit?

While I’ve personally felt a difference, I also think Akesi’s products could be a brilliant addition for clients who:

  • Struggle with constipation or irregularity

  • Feel bloated after meals or sluggish in the afternoons

  • Are working on healing their gut lining or supporting immunity

  • Need a gentle, ongoing way to support microbial balance without overwhelming their system

Of course, no product is a magic bullet — and I always encourage clients to pair supplements with whole foods, stress management, and plenty of hydration. But when the right tools are combined with the right foundations, that’s when real shifts start to happen.

Final thoughts

I’m really glad I decided to try the Akesi range — they’ve definitely earned a place in my daily routine. I love that the formulas are clean, thoughtfully designed, and easy to work into everyday life.
