Hibiscus Berry Tea

Zinger-spice probiotic tea… yum!
Akesi Tea Recipe

Hibiscus & Berry Zinger Iced Tea created by Berry Spritzer fan @simplyoliwia from Green is the New Black

The sweetness of the berries balances out the tartness of the tea, with a spice profile that’s not far off from chai. Rich with probiotics thanks to the inclusion of our Bio-Fermented Berry Spritzer. Swap out your coffee for this fun spin on an afternoon pick-me-up:

  • 1 cup of chilled hibiscus tea (see tea recipe below)
  • 1 tablespoon Akesi Bio-Fermented Berry Spritzer
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • A splash of sparkling water (I used @perrier)
  • Serve over ice

To make the Hibiscus Tea:

  • 1/2 cup of dried hibiscus flowers
  • 8 cups of water
  • 2 inch piece of ginger, sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 8 cardamom pods
  • 8 cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 vanilla bean

Add everything to a pot and boil uncovered. Once rolling, remove from heat and cover. Let steep for 15-20 minutes. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, strain, and pop it into the fridge to chill.

*Pro tip: Get creative with your herbs and spices. Start with the hibiscus tea base and try a variation with lemon and mint or lime and lemongrass.
